Training SPLASH brings together tools, guidance and community resources to support trainers at every stage of the training lifecycle.
Training SPLASH organises all of its resources around the five core stages of the training lifecycle: plan, design, develop, deliver and evaluate. This structure allows trainers to quickly find what is relevant to where they are in their work. Someone planning a new course can identify needs and define learning objectives; a trainer developing materials can find templates and guidance on making their training FAIR; those delivering or evaluating training can access mentoring, certification and metrics support.
This platform began as a 2023 BioHackathon Europe project, initially conceived as a single access point to ELIXIR Training Platform resources. Since then, it has been further developed with support from the ELIXIR Scientific Programme 2024–28 and has grown into an open platform, welcoming resources from outside ELIXIR provided they meet quality, relevance and maintenance criteria.
The platform currently features 12 resources and groups, covering areas such as FAIR training, Train-the-Trainer support, quality and metrics, catalogues, e-learning, learning paths and templates. Current resources include the FAIR Training Working Group, the FAIR Training Handbook, ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-Trainer, the ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-Trainer Mentorship Programme, the Training Metrics Database, Training Certification, Galaxy Training, Glittr.org, TeSS, the E-learning Interest Group, Learning Paths and the ELIXIR Lesson Template.
Training SPLASH is designed to grow with the needs of the training community. Trainers, training providers and resource developers are invited to suggest well-maintained resources that support the development or delivery of high-quality training. Contributions from the community are welcome here.
